Calling All Teen Heartthrobs!

YOUR TEEN HEARTTHROB

I was watching Dancing with the Stars last night and I saw one of my little girl heart throbs dancing up a storm.  Donny Osmond. I had a huge crush on him when I was a pre-teen.  And David Cassidy.  And Bobby Sherman. And Davy Jones. Really, any celebrity who was somewhat cute would do.

How have my crushes stood the test of time?  Donny’s cute, but he doesn’t have the hot factor of Jason Statham.  When did David Cassidy and Davy Jones get so short?!!!  But I say good for Bobby Sherman for becoming a paramedic.

What about your celebrity teen crushes?  And how have they stood the test of time?  Dish with me! And here's a little bit of Jason to get your heart going pitter-patter.

XO,

Leanne

Bobby Sherman and Davy Jones were my top two crushes. When my daughter was a baby, we were at the mall one day and I saw Davy Jones there signing autographs. There was a bit of a line, but I had to get on it because I realized that I owed it to my 8-year-old, blushing, giggly self to meet him!

Squeel! Allison, you got Davy's autograph! Then you'll love my lil story. I went to a Monkees reunion concert (minus Michael) and sat on the front row with my daughter! She was young enough and tolerant enough to enjoy it! Too fun!:) So do you have that autograph framed?;) xo

GREAT post, Leanne. I was the Bobby Sherman groupie! I'd stay home from school dances to watch Here Come the Brides! (pre-vcr days people!) My dad came back from Viet Nam and took me to see him in concert. It was great, but by then I was SO over Bobby and onto another heartthrob, thought who it was escapes me right now. (I think it was Roger Moore! The Saint) Now, Hugh Jackman does it for me. Sad, isn't it?

Amy! You got to go to a Bobby Sherman concert? GASP! Lucky you! I don't care how old you were, you had to be at least a little thrilled.:) Hugh Jackman works, but Jason tops my list.:)

Hearthrobs - I had Leif Garret, who I can now see every thursday on Tru Tv - dumbest criminals. I am still oddly attracted, lol

Ah, Leif. I was oddly, distantly charmed by him for about two days then quickly moved on. Hey, at least he's employed!

I have to say my biggest teen crush was Donnie Whalberg from then New Kids On The Block. (Showing my age here I guess, lol) I got to meet them all and hug and kiss them when I was 13! My cousin was roommates with one of the guys in the band's cousin. So I got to go to their show in Boston and go backstage. And just this summer they went out on tour again! It was so much fun going to that concert. I felt like a 13 year old again.
As for right now my crush is on Gerard Butler!:)

Ah, Donnie Wahlberg, you liked a bad boy!:) LOVE IT! Also love it that you went to the reunion concert this summer. You go girl! And I'll join you in your admiration (lust) for Gerard!:) Thanks for posting!:)

Geez, where do you want me to start? First and probably most lasting crush was Kurt Russell. I went to great lengths to catch anything he was in. Since it was mostly movies and not TV series, I had long waits between sightings. Paul McCartney, Davy Jones, David Cassidy all were top teen crushes. Also, in the category of probably most obscure heartthrob was Rick Ely from "The Young Rebels," a short lived TV series about the American revolution. I don't think I ever saw him in anything else. Michael Landon was up there too--I didn't watch Bonanza religiously cause I liked horses! Christopher Reeve was early adulthood crush--did get to meet him in person and he was incredibly sweet!

Leanne, Great topic !! And thanks for linking your blog on FB !
I've had quite a few crushes in my teens. First Mark-Paul Gosselar (Zach Morris from Saved by the Bell). Then there was Johnny Depp (21 Jump street). I even had a small pic of him in my pencil case so I could look at him during classes:P. Also Keanu Reeves after watching speed (every week-end during a month and a half... let's just say theater wasn't that expenssive back then o:)). Then around 16 I had my Denzel Washington phase.
*sigh* Those guys aged quite handsomely, didn't they ?

Since you gave such a wonderful endorsement of Rick Ely, I felt it was my (ahem) duty to google him. YES! VERY cute! With a cleft chin, no less! And Christopher Reeve, my fave movie of his was that time travel flick with Jane Seymour! Thanks for posting!:)

Emmanuelle! What AMAZING GREAT TASTE you have! Love the Johnny Depp story. I think we should all carry a pic of him with us whether we're in school or not. Loved Keanu in Speed also. And Denzel is gorgeous! These guys HAVE aged VERY well!!! Thanks for posting Sweetie!:)
Tuesday, October 6th 2009 @ 2:47 PM

Oops! That last post by Donna talking about the cleft in RicK Ely's chin wasn't written by Donna. I got all excited and put her name instead of mine. Bonk!

I had a huge crush on River Phoenix. I thought Patrick Dempsey was so cute in "Can't Buy Me Love."
Tuesday, October 6th 2009 @ 5:53 PM

Posted by Leanne:

Jane, oooh, did you like River because he seemed complex and complicated? What did you like about him? Patrick Dempsey, it's amazing how much he has improved with age, imo. Amazing! Thank you for posting!

Rob Lowe. Probably would have settled for Chad Lowe. And Robert Downey, Jr. - long before his fame he was doing a lot of weird indie films written and directed by his dad. Charlie Sheen would make my list too - apparently I have serious bad boy issues.

Great going Leanne - love the topic!

Posted by Leanne:

Yes to Rob Lowe. No to Chad. Yes to Robert Downey, Jr. now that he's figured himself out. Charlie's a little scary, but verrrrrrrrry funny!:) xo
