My only excuse is I was writing away from the net and it completely slipped my overtaxed mind!
Your Ode earned the most votes!!

Most of the myths about publishing that come to my mind are from the author perspective. Even then I'm not sure that they're myths. Most of the time they're more public misconceptions.
I'm going with the one that I know most people are surprised to hear isn't true. They believe that once you publish a book, you're financially set for life.
That happens about one out of every thousand times. Even that ratio could be overly optimistic. One out of every ten thousand times? Probably somewhere in between, but the truth of the matter is that many of the authors you read probably have other jobs or a spouse who also brings in an income, or both.
After I published my first book, some people in town asked me if I planned to continue working my day job. When I said yes, one woman actually responded, "But why when you're raking it in now."
Ma'am, the only thing I'm raking in is yard debris. Selling a book is not a "get rich quick" scheme.
This brings up an interesting point. I wonder how much is made by the authors of books about making money. I'd love to see their royalty statements.
Rhonda, Leanne, Amy and Karen have been in this biz significantly longer than Beth, Traci and me. I can't wait to hear what the rest of the Babes say this week!
